I graduated in December 2014 from Degree Programme in Visual Arts. My main interests are printmaking, community arts and environmental arts. I also have a bachelors degree in cultural management (graduated in 2011). You can read my CV here. Find out more about my prison art project here.
I am currently working on one year artist's grant admitted by the Finnish Cultural Fund, to organize and manage an art project in four prisons located in eastern Finland. As an artist I guide and teach inmates to create art with different methods, form basic drawing and painting to installation and photography. I use contemporary art as one of major sources of inspiration and ideas when teaching and guiding the inmate groups. The inner meanings of my project is based on community arts and also social arts. I help the inmates to create art that is meaningful to them. I help them to tell their stories. Every participating inmate does their own art, their own project.
I am a wife and a mother. I have to kids Aatos and Elsa. Our beautiful home is an old farmhouse and we share our home with our pug Aulis, cane corso Dina and cat Vilma. We also have four pet sheep called Lyyli, Mette, Ursula and Bella living in our barn. Our home is surrounded by beautiful and serene nature. I am strongly connected to the place I call home.
Just in the past year and half I have found that community art has become something I feel very passionate about and I will work with this art form in the future.
What comes to printmaking and other art forms such as environmental arts, I gather my inspiration and ideas from my surrounding life. Family, everyday life and nature are strongly present.
